The University of the South Pacific has designed the Public Health in the Pacific course with the goal of deepening your understanding and awareness of the risks, challenges and the social burdens facing public health in the region. Through this course you will prepare yourself to either enter, or expand your professional development within, the the medical field using awareness of the cores issues facing public health and knowledge of cutting-edge solutions used to reduce the impact of these challenges. A particular focus shall be placed on lifting the burden of non-communicable disease in the Pacific region.

About This Course
This course has been designed to support and strengthen your awareness of public health in the Pacific region, it will further your understanding, for those already working in the Public Health, and prepare those undertaking study or working in related fields. Meet your Facilitator

Professor Prem Misir
Pro Vice-Chancellor, SI Campus, Professor & Head of the School of Public Health at The University of the South Pacific.
Professor Misir is a leading Public Health expert and written several publications on the stigma of HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean, South America, and the South Pacific. He is also part of international consultancies, as a member of PAHO/WHO Evaluation Team for Renewing Primary Health Care; and CARICOM priorities for the Proposed Regional Goals for Human Resources for Health; and worked as UNDP Consultant where he developed the National HIV/AIDS Workplace Policy for the Government of Guyana.
