For example, think of a fridge that can detect the levels of products, and notify owner on the way back to home, to order them directly from the supermarket, and owner just need to drive through to pick up products. Other examples include, home automation, environmental monitoring, and so on.

  • IoT Models, IoT Networking, Communication and Protocols
  • Basic usage of Arduino Uno and using Arduino IDE
  • Assembly of IoT device, Designing Circuit
  • Setting up the IoT hardware

This course is designed for IoT professionals in Mauritius.

It is also relevant to any professionals who want to understand the basic concepts, challenges and opportunities of IoT in their respective roles and industries.

The course is also useful for those who have an interest in new professional groups emerging from IoT, such as data scientists, software engineers, and digital specialists.

Roshan Halkhoree

Roshan Halkhoree is the Director of the Centre for Information Technology and Systems (CITS) at the University of Mauritius (UoM). Roshan is an IT expert and professional having intensive industry experience prior to joining the University and has around 20 years’ experience in the field of ICT.

Aatish Chiniah

Aatish Chiniah is a senior lecturer in the department of Digital Technologies. He holds a BEng in Computer Engineering and an MSc in Computer Systems and Networking. He is currently completing his PhD in the area of Cloud Storage. His area of research includes Networking, Mobile/Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, as well as Technology Adoption.

Faculty of Information, Communication and Digital Technologies

This course has been duly approved by the UoM Senate as a stand-alone module carrying the equivalent of 6 LCCS (equivalent to ECTS). Credits are earned after student undertakes a formal assessment of the module. A certificate of attendance is awarded if no formal assessment is taken.
